Glanton, Blackburn, Garmany receive PGA of America awards

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The PGA of America has announced its National Award recipients for 2020.
Ronny Glanton, PGA, the head professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson, Texas, is the recipient of the 2020 PGA Golf Professional of the Year Award. This is the highest annual honor given to a PGA of America professional, awarded for qualities of leadership, strong moral character and a substantial record of service to the PGA and the game of golf.
*The Horton Smith Award was renamed the PGA Professional Development Award in 2020.
Dana Garmany, PGA, a Southwest PGA Section Member and Executive Chairman of Troon® in Scottsdale, Arizona, is the recipient of the inaugural PGA Golf Executive of the Year Award. The honor bestows special recognition for performing outstanding services in an executive management position, while possessing qualities of leadership, vision, courage, moral character and a substantial record of service to the Association and the game.
Mark Blackburn, PGA, a 14-year PGA Member in the Alabama-NW Florida Section and Director of Instruction at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama, is the recipient of the 2020 PGA Teacher & Coach of the Year Award for his “outstanding services as a golf teacher, innovator and coach.”

Glanton, Blackburn and Garmany lead a group of 12 PGA Professionals and one PGA Section in winning the PGA of America’s 2020 National Awards.
“This year’s National Awards winners are proven leaders and innovators in the game and business of golf, and the PGA of America salutes their accomplishments and passion for the sport,” said PGA President Suzy Whaley. “These 2020 recipients represent the best of the Association and inspire our nearly 29,000 PGA Professionals to reach new heights every day, as they strive to grow the game and drive our profession to a new standard of excellence.”
Whistling Straits/Black Wolf Run in Kohler, Wis., was named the Destination Award winner.
