Onalaska's Skogen jumps into 9th place in State Amateur

RIVER HILLS, WI - Onalaska's Ben Skogen (pictured) vaulted from 45th place all the way up to a six-way tie for ninth place after the second round of the Wisconsin State Golf Association 119th State Amateur Championship at the Milwaukee Country Club in River Hills, WI, on Tuesday.
Thomas Longbella, from Chippewa Falls, leads the 72-hole event with a 4-under par 69-67--136.
Skogen, the two-time defending La Crosse County Men's Amateur champion, opened with 75 on Monday before his even-par 70 on Tuesday for a 145 total.
Meanwhile, Sparta's Austin Erickson is tied for 15th place with 73-73--146. Onalaska's Joe Weber shares 23rd place with 74-73--147, while Shaun Borre of La Crosse is tied for 54th place with 75-77--152.
Sparta's Scott Erickson and Tomah's Trey Hewuse missed the cut with 169 and 170, respectively.
