NOTEBOOK: Golf tourneys, fundraisers must walk softly

Golf tournaments and fundraisers are slowly occurring again in the Coulee Region.
As long as organizers and golf course operators place health and safety of all at the top of their priority lists, events can be held, but only with COVID-19 precautions at the forefront.
VITERBO ATHLETICS SCRAMBLE: The annual Viterbo University of La Crosse athletics golf scramble is scheduled Monday, Aug. 10, at the La Crosse Country Club in Onalaska.
COVID-19 modifications will be in place to ensure safety of golfers, according to officials.
PUTTS FOR PAWS: The second annual Putts for Paws golf scramble is scheduled July 24, at Drugan's Castle Mound Country Club in Holmen.
The annual fundraiser supports the Trempealeau County Humane Society.

BRAGUE, OLSON MISS: Almann Brague of La Crosse missed his chance to play in the annual Wisconsin State Golf Association State Amateur Championship later this month.
Brague tied for 26th place with 86 in the WSGA State Am Qualifier on the Lakes Course at Lake Arrowhead Golf Club in Nekoosa, WI, early last week.
Onalaska's Eric Olson posted an 8-over par 79 to tie for 17th place and failed in the State Am Qualifier at the Eau Claire Golf and Country Club in Eau Claire.
Only the five low scores from each qualifier advanced to the State Amateur Championship.

Onalaska's Jim Socha and Al Walchinski of Appleton, also shared 45th place with 114-122-236 and 86 points.
