McClintock leads TRGA players into River Run Open

SPARTA, WI - A small field enters the Three Rivers Golf Association VPP Group/Big Sky Cattle River Run Open on Saturday, but you can bet the competition will be tight.

Wilber Memorial a gem of an outing

Here we go again, another Linda and Harold Wilber Memorial Golf Outing at Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club in Trempealeau, WI.
It's one of the most popular outings of the year in the Coulee Region. I never miss it and you shouldn't either.
I go way back to Trempealeau Mountain with close ties to Harold. In fact, Harold, Steve Franke, another close friend of Harold, and I played before the course even opened. No clubhouse, no hole flags, just a new, budding course.
Today, Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club is one of the area's finest public layouts. Harold and Linda have gone to greener fairways, but the course and the tournament continue to live on, thanks to their sons, Erik and Jimmy, and club manager Kendra.
This year's 8-inch cup, two-person scramble is scheduled Sunday, Aug. 13. Our youngest son, Evan, and I were one of the first to enter because we know how quickly tee times become available.
Consider what you get.
* Golf and cart.
* Tee prizes.
* Practice balls.
* Events on every hole.
* 4 drink tickets per 2-person team.
* A great meal after play.
The cost? Only $40 for members and $60 for non-members. Compare that with other golf outings and you will find it's the "real deal."
The reason?
That's the way Harold, Linda, Jimmy, Erik and Kendra want it to be... a day to remember Harold and Linda, renew old acquaintances and meet new friends.
I can't wait.
Call 608-534-7417 to reserve your tee time, but don't delay!
FOREST HILLS UPDATE: Holes No. 13 and No. 14 are open again at Forest Hills Golf Course in La Crosse.
Par returns to par-71 for men and par-72 for women.
For tee times, call 608-779-4653.
JOHNSON TIES FOR 5TH: Greg Johnson of Black River Falls, WI, tied for fifth place in the Wisconsin State Golf Association Senior Tour Event at the Watertown Country Club in Watertown, WI, recently.
Johnson shot a 6-over 76 with 30 points.
