Forest Hills Golf Course in La Crosse is offering a Memorial weekend special Saturday through Monday.
Green fees and cart fees are $40 per person for for 18 holes.
Veterans receive free cart rental, too.
Forest Hills staff is also re-gripping clubs with tour wrap grips for only $8 per club.
GOLF FOR KIDS' SAKE: The annual Golf for Kids' Sake fund-raiser for the Big Brother Big Sisters of the 7 Rivers Region is scheduled June 7, at Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club in Trempealeau, WI.
Entry fee for the four-person scramble is $75 per player. Players must register at www.7riversbbbs.org by June 1.
U.S. WOMEN'S OPEN: The United States Golf Association has accepted 1,709 entries for the 72nd U.S. Women’s Open Championship scheduled July 13-16, at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ.
This marks the fourth consecutive year the U.S. Women’s Open has received more than 1,700 entries. The 2015 championship at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania holds the entry record with 1,873.
Ten U.S. Women’s Open champions are among the 97 players who are currently fully exempt into the championship.
“In what has become a hallmark of this championship, we are excited to see such a strong group of entrants from around the world for the 72nd U.S. Women’s Open Championship,” said Stuart Francis, chairman of the USGA Championship Committee. “We also look forward to welcoming the U.S. Women’s Open back to New Jersey for the first time since Laura Davies of England captured the 1987 championship at Plainfield Country Club.”
To be eligible for the U.S. Women’s Open, a player must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 2.4, or be a professional. Sectional qualifying will be conducted over 36 holes between May 22 and June 12.

BISTODEAU AND SOCHA SHINE: Mike Bistodeau of Holmen, WI, and Jim Socha of Onalaska, WI, fared well in recent Wisconsin State Golf Association Senior Tour events.
Bistodeau tied for second place in the Senior Tour Event No. 7 at the Kenosha Country Club in Kenosha, WI, earlier this week.
Bistodeau fired a 5-over par 75 with 31 points in the Senior Gross Divison. He tied for sixth place in the Senior Net Division with 71 and 35 points.
Socha tied for fourth in the Senior Low Gross Division and was runner-up in the Senior Net Division in the Senior Tour Event No. 5 at the Beloit Golf Club in Beloit, WI, last week. Socha managed a 4-over par 76 with 32 points in the Gross event, and a low net 68 with 40 points in the Net Division.
Socha also played well one day earlier in the Senior Tour Event No. 4 at the Janesville, Country Club in Janesville, WI. Socha tied for ninth in the Gross Division with a 11-over 83 and 26 points. He shared fourth place in the Net Division with 74 and 34 points. Bistodeau finished in a three-way for second place with a 79 and 30 points. He tied for eighth place in the Net Division with 75 and 33 points.
