Onalaska's Ben Skogen coasts to TRGA Championship

ONALASKA, WI - Onalaska's Ben Skogen (pictured) put his name on the Three Rivers Golf Association VPP Group/Big Sky Cattle Championship in a big way on Sunday.
Skogen dominated the 36-hole season-ending championship with a 21-stroke victory in Championship Flight, by far the best performance in the 24-year history of the organization.
Skogen controlled the event from start to finish with a 2-under par 69 at Forest Hills Golf Course in La Crosse on Saturday. The former all-state player at Onalaska High School followed with a 4-under par 68 at the La Crosse Country Club in Onalaska on Sunday for a 6-under 137 total.
"Playing the La Crosse Country Club at 7,100 yards felt like a college tournament" said Skogen, who played four years at the University of Wisconsin. "It was a really fun weekend."
John Percy finished a distant second with 158. Mitch Sobotta and Michael Drugan tied for third at 160.
Bruce Lindseth captured First Flight honors with 73-81-154. Cristen Marish finished runner-up with 161.
