Sam, I'll be disappointed if you don't enter 2019 County Am

HAYWARD, WI - How would you feel about getting your first hole in one on a par-4 hole?
Well, that's exactly what Holmen High School's Sam Evenson accomplished while playing with his grandfather, Paul Dunham, recently.
However, allow me to let his grampa tell the complete story.
"My grandson and Ryan (Quinn's) nephew had quite a golf happening just recently," Paul sent in a recent email.
"Sam and I were playing Hayward Golf Club on Tuesday, June 25, for a practice round before his Junior WPGA Tournament on Wednesday. We were playing the blue tees, way past my ability, and on No. 16 , a par-4, 283-yard hole, he hit a driver over the trees for a hole in one!
"We did not see it go in and I thought it was short in the rough or the trap," his grampa added. "Sam was going to look over the green and was going to check out the hole first. He spotted a divot mark before the hole and sure enough, his ball was in the hole.
"It was not only Sam's first career hole in one, but on a par-4!. Sam finished with a 73.
"The next day, Sam shot an 81 and took third place in the 16-18 year old bracket," his grampa said.
Congrats Sam!!
I just hope longtime Vikings' coach Paul Laxton, pushes Sam, who just turned 16 and will be a junior at Holmen High School this fall, to enter the La Crosse County Amateur Golf Championships as presented by Pepsi-Cola of La Crosse.
Remember, champions are born from youth.
