Entries open now for La Crosse County Amateur Golf Championships

Entries open today for the 29th annual La Crosse County Amateur Golf Championships as presented by Pepsi-Cola of La Crosse.
"The tradition continues as the purse grows each year," said Bob Lamb, tournament director. "This is all possible thanks to Pepsi, Kwik Trip and all of our other community sponsors.”
Last year's total purse was almost $9,000, according to Lamb.
Kwik Trip retains its longstanding title sponsorship of the Seniors County Amateur.
Several other community partners also continue their longtime sponsorships of the tournaments, including the Women’s County Amateur.
Tournament officials urge players to submit entry forms well before entry deadline.
A change has been made in the USGA handicap index for the Men's Championship Flight in 2019. Players with a 5.0 index are now required to play in Championship Flight. The previous index was 5.8 for several years.
"The tournament is a highlight of the summer for local golfers and local golf fans. We're looking forward to another great field for this summer's event," said Bruce Kaiser, associate tournament director.
Entries are also expected to rise in the Men's Super Seniors Division, now in its third year.
The Super Seniors Low Net Division is for players age 70 and older, who compete from the forward tees. However, Super Seniors-eligible players with a USGA index of 8.0 or less must continue to play in the Seniors Championship Flight.
Entry deadlines are July 15, for the Seniors and Women's tournaments, and July 22, for the Men's 36-hole event.
